ABOUT THE PRIDE

Lions Pride Grappling is committed to providing it's athletes the tools to help them succeed not only in the sports of wrestling, but more importantly in life. Though both coaches' and athletes' the dedication to training and preparation, Lions Pride Grappling will exemplify the true meaning of winning, success, and character, both on and off the mat.

With the help of wrestling coaches throughout the middle TN area, we are focusing on the introduction of wrestling at an earlier age. At the same time we are making sure we give our older wrestlers the avenue to improve their skills so they can progress to the next level in their high school and freestyle wrestling careers.

WHO WE TRAIN

We work with boys and girls from ages 6 and up. As our program grows we will have the younger wrestlers wrestling at opposite times from the older wrestlers in order to give them better attention. Younger wrestlers learn to wrestle with more of the games approach to wrestling. this method develops them quicker and kids learn games quicker than by drilling technique.

We work with with any age from 6 and up. We have ages training from 7 years old to 43. We welcome anyone who wants to learn the sport of wrestling for fun or competition or to simply get in good physical condition, wrestling will definitly do that.

OUR STORY

How lions Pride Grappling began we a vision of top notch wrestling with awareness at the elementary school level for all of Middle TN. I am an Assistant Coach at Friendship Christian School in Wilson County along with Steven Smith who is the Head Coach. Steve and I began having conversations on what we could do to introduce wrestling earlier in a students life. Most programs in Middle Tn introduce wrestling at a middle school level. Our goal is to introduce it at an early elementary level.

With the help of David Mason who is also an Assistant Coach at Friendship Christian School and the owner of the facility we now call "The Den", he generously reduced the price of one of this facilities to promote wrestling in the Middle TN area.

Chattanooga has had a great program for years and they effectively begin recruiting wrestlers at the kindergarten level. Our plan is to do the same. We don't care what school, what district, what county, or what region you"re in, we only care that we promote wrestling for everyone, everywhere, for the love of the sport..
